Mandeville Pre-School Class
With the knowledge that the first three years of life are so important to brain development, the preschool classroom is designed to provide the two year old with sensorial development of visual discrimination of size, shape and colors, sound discrimination, language development and introduction to mathematics. The classrooms have areas for art expression and daily living skills (pouring, spooning, cleaning). While there is much intellectual stimulation, our emphasis is always on nurture of each child’s uniqueness. Singing, signing, stories, music and movement are part of the preschooler’s days. Frequent cooking projects are built into our week. Social skills continue to be developed, as is the ongoing acquisition of verbal skills.
Great emphasis is placed on recognizing, respecting and appropriately expressing feelings. Our practical life skills are refined as children learn grace and courtesy manners during lunch. Children learn to push their chairs back under the table and to scrape their plates and help clean the classroom. Friends are a great part of the children’s days. Outside play provides many opportunities for developing gross motor skills and for social interaction too. We recognize the importance and privilege we have in the loving nurture of these precious children. Hugs, smiles and love are a part of every child’s days.
Jessica Barrois
Co-Team Lead
Kinder Haus welcomed Jessica in the December of 2009. Mrs. Jessica was recently married in the spring of 2010. When Mrs. Jessica joined the Kinder Haus family she brought with her warmth, knowledge, and a deep respect for the Montessori method of teaching. Jessica graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in December of 2009 with a Bachelor’s of Science in General Studies with a Concentration in Early Childhood Education. During her years in Hammond, Jessica worked at University Montessori where she developed her love of Montessori. Jessica was promoted to Team Lead in August of 2010. Mrs. Jessica believes that “to teach the children of today, influences the world tomorrow”– we at Kinder Haus couldn’t agree more!
Alisha Wortmann
Co-Team Lead
Mrs. Alisha joined our Kinder Haus family in February of 2010. It was an immediate “fit” and Mrs. Alisha soon became a valuable member of our team. She exudes warmth and love to all the children. Prior to working at Kinder Haus, Mrs. Alisha studied Early Childhood Education at Southeastern Louisiana University. She is very excited to embrace “Montessori” and is actively studying the Birth to Three Program for Montessori.
Mrs. Alisha was married in the fall of 2010 and she and her husband are planning on building their dream home in the near future. Mrs. Alisha and Mrs. Jessica work closely together to provide an enriching and exciting class for our preschoolers.
Kerri Fitzgerald
Preschool Afternoon Teacher
We were thrilled to welcome back Mrs. Kerri Fitzgerald to our Kinder Haus family in August of 2011. Kerri had previously worked for 5 years at Kinder Haus and was our Team Lead Teacher in the preschool class. In 2008, Kerri left Kinder Haus for the birth of her third child, Bridgette. Mrs. Kerri has her degree from L.S.U and she taught for two years at S.S.A. after leaving Kinder Haus. We are thrilled to have her back once again in the Preschool class. She works in the afternoons with Ms. Lisette to provide a mature and loving environment for the toddlers and preschoolers.
