Mandeville Pre-School Class
With the knowledge that the first three years of life are so important to brain development, the preschool classroom is designed to provide the two year old with sensorial development of visual discrimination of size, shape and colors, sound discrimination, language development and introduction to mathematics. The classrooms have areas for art expression and daily living skills (pouring, spooning, cleaning). While there is much intellectual stimulation, our emphasis is always on nurture of each child’s uniqueness. Singing, signing, stories, music and movement are part of the preschooler’s days. Frequent cooking projects are built into our week. Social skills continue to be developed, as is the ongoing acquisition of verbal skills.
Great emphasis is placed on recognizing, respecting and appropriately expressing feelings. Our practical life skills are refined as children learn grace and courtesy manners during lunch. Children learn to push their chairs back under the table and to scrape their plates and help clean the classroom. Friends are a great part of the children’s days. Outside play provides many opportunities for developing gross motor skills and for social interaction too. We recognize the importance and privilege we have in the loving nurture of these precious children. Hugs, smiles and love are a part of every child’s days.
Ms. Amanda has been with Kinder Haus since August 2015. She has worked in every classroom as our floater, during the summer as our American Red Cross certified head lifeguard, and she is the lead teacher of our Pre-K/K aftercare program. She has been in the childcare field for over fifteen years, has a Bachelor’s degree in Dance from Columbia College, has her CDA credential, and is in the process of receiving her Montessori certification for 3-6 through M.W.E.I. Ms. Amanda brings an energetic, enthusiastic, and creative attitude into everything she does.
Kinder Haus is excited to welcome Ms. Meghan to the Preschool classroom. She has previous experience working in our Toddler classroom, and she took an extended maternity leave before returning. Her many years working in the early education field, as well as her motherhood, make her the perfect addition to the Preschool room.
Preschool Aftercare Teacher
Ms. Taylor comes to Kinder Haus after working with children ages 6 weeks to 13 years old for three years. She is extremely creative, positive, friendly, and flexible. When Ms. Taylor comes in for aftercare to finish the day, the children are always excited to see her. Her happy and positive energy is quickly spread to the entire Preschool classroom. She makes sure that the aftercare program is run smoothly, and that the children get the most out of their entire day at school. We look forward to many years with Ms. Taylor!
