Mandeville Pre-School Community

With the knowledge that the first three years of life are so important to brain development, the preschool classroom is designed to provide the two year old with sensorial development of visual discrimination of size, shape and colors, sound discrimination, language development and introduction to mathematics. The classrooms have areas for art expression and daily living skills (pouring, spooning, cleaning). While there is much intellectual stimulation, our emphasis is always on nurture of each child’s uniqueness. Singing, signing, stories, music and movement are part of the preschooler’s days. Frequent cooking projects are built into our week. Social skills continue to be developed, as is the ongoing acquisition of verbal skills.

Great emphasis is placed on recognizing, respecting and appropriately expressing feelings. Our practical life skills are refined as children learn grace and courtesy manners during lunch.  Children learn to push their chairs back under the table and to scrape their plates and help clean the classroom. Friends are a great part of the children’s days. Outside play provides many opportunities for developing gross motor skills and for social interaction too. We recognize the importance and privilege we have in the loving nurture of these precious children. Hugs, smiles and love are a part of every child’s days.

Meet Our Pre-School Team

Taylor Wilson

Preschool Community Team Co-Leader

Ms. Taylor came to Kinder Haus after working for three years with children ages 6 weeks to 13 years old. She is extremely creative, positive, friendly, and flexible. Mrs. Taylor received her Birth To Three Montessori Certification in August of 2017. She was then promoted to be the Preschool Community Team Leader in April 2018. Her happy and positive energy can be felt throughout the entire school. This summer Mrs. Taylor welcomed her first child in this world and took a short leave. She returned to the Preschool classroom in October 2019.

Heather Perea

Preschool Community Team Co-Leader

Mrs. Heather starting working at Kinder Haus in 2018. She is currently in the process of becoming Montessori Certified for birth- 3 year olds. She is also a certified yoga instructor and has over fifteen years experience as a dance teacher. Mrs. Heather has her Bachelor's Degree from Rutgers University in Fine Arts. In addition to her ample experience in the fine arts, she is also the mom to a three year old daughter. In her own words, "a successful child care program is created by providing a safe environment with caring, nurturing teachers, to allow children to learn and grow." The special talents she brings to our classroom enhance the program for all the children in her care.

Sara Oswald

Preschool Community Teacher

Ms. Sara wants to inspire children to find their creative spirit and what makes them happy. She is artistic, thoughtful and sensitive to the children's needs. Her previous work experience includes time as a library assistant, a teacher in residence and a greenhouse worker. This mother of two spends her spare time painting, making jewelry, crafting, gardening, baking with her kids, being in nature, doing a bit of yoga and reading.

Jessica Yeager

Preschool Community Aftercare Teacher

Ms. Jessica joined the Mandeville Kinder Haus family in May of 2019 after having worked at the Metairie location since 2018 where she worked primarily with the toddler and primary students. The Metairie Campus was sad to have her relocate, but we are thrilled to have her join the team in Mandeville. Ms. Jessica is a full-time student at the University of New Orleans and is pursuing a Sociology degree, with a minor in Economics. Ms. Jessica believes that learning should be fun, interactive, and something for children to look forward to, not dread. She is excited to help show children at Kinder Haus how enjoyable learning can be. She believes that a successful child care program involves having amazing teachers and staff that can impact a child’s life and growth tremendously. Ms. Jessica is compassionate, organized, positive, eager to learn, and unafraid to jump in.

Adele Sakowski

Preschool Community Aftercare Teacher

One of the most notable things about Ms. Adele is that she herself is a graduate of Kinder Haus Montessori!  She has followed in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother as Kinder Haus teachers. As the oldest sister of 5 siblings, Adele is responsible and kind. She is finishing her last year of high school and aspires to be a dentist or a pediatric nurse after she graduates.
